"We use serial Splitter on competition sailboats, where the data from different equipment has to be used for multiple programs, e.g.: NMEA signal coming from AIS reciever, NMEA signal from multiple sensors such as depth, wind, speed, compas etc., NMEA signal from GPS."

gps splitter - split mobile com port

Serial Splitter Mobile splits real
serial ports into virtual ones

Serial Splitter Mobile is a handy utility for mobile systems that can split real serial ports into virtual ones, which can be useful if you need several applications to use the same hardware serial port simultaneously. Each application is assigned its own virtual port, while in fact all of them work with the same real port. Thus, Serial Splitter Mobile allows you to connect one application to another, so that they can exchange data (for example, in GPS emulation).

Using Serial Splitter Mobile, you can:

Create up to 20 virtual serial ports

By splitting one serial port, Serial Splitter Mobile is able to create up to 20 virtual ports: COM0-COM9 and VSP0-VSP9, all of which are exact copies of the original port. Serial Splitter Mobile lets you connect one application to another or make several programs work with the same serial port.

Set access mode for every created port

While the ports created by Serial Splitter Mobile are equal, you can set access mode for each of them. For example, setting read-only mode for a port disallows you to send data to it, while setting read-and-write mode makes the port fully accessible.

Manage all ports in the system

Serial Splitter Mobile lets you easily create, delete and disable ports in your system. Say, you want two applications to work with the same GPS device, but only have one serial port left, while another is infrared; to solve the problem, simply disable the infrared port with Serial Splitter Mobile, then split your COM port into two virtual ports; now you can launch two applications, which will use the two virtual ports to work with the GPS device simultaneously.
